26.2 Days Until The Boston Marathon

Welcome to Jamaica, Have a Nice day

Well, actually, that was yesterday but it’s a neat thought and I am revisiting it today.

Am I ready? Well I was, I really was on track but Jamaica beckoned and we went. Vacationing in the Caribbean, at an all inclusive resort is a wonderful thing. That is, when you are not prepping for the Boston Marathon. I have a severe case of buffet belly even though my intentions were to enjoy a holiday without over eating. The only problem is, our 5 Star Resort’s food was more like a 3 star. The resort which I will not name because that would not be a nice thing to do to the Gran Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay Jamaica, was booked solid. This probably had a lot to do with the food situation as I have heard great things about their food. So, we ended up visiting the buffet, then eating half of it before deciding it was not to our liking, then we’d revisit the buffet hoping to find something else satisfactory. This resulted in eating more than we should. Add to that the fact that Rum based drinks taste so good under the Caribbean sun, and the end result is, I am about 5 lbs heavier than I was on Thursday of last week. Boo. Time to work this baby off!

As for training, I did run 5 of the 7 days, not too hard but a couple of good efforts, and a 32k ┬álong run the day before we left. So fitness wise, I should not be too far off. If the remaining 3.5 weeks goes well, I could still be on track for a PB. I’d like to beat my 3:18:20 by a few minutes to get under the 3:15 mark because we all know it’s cool to make round numbers a goal.

Crazy mad runner, wanting to be fitter and faster but too busy to do it right. Still, I keep trying.
